Ok More infoFishdeal is one of the largest angling webshops In Europe. It’s focusing on day deals and strong day promotions. Besides a strong market position in the Netherlands, Fishdeal is also fully active in Belgium, France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, Poland and Denmark. All websites are having their own domain. It means that the application contains 9 different domains.
In addition, we also have an active website for our own brand. This is website is connected in the same backend and active for the same countries. This means that we’re handling 18 websites from one strong backend! All website orders are shipped from the warehouse in Utrecht (Netherlands). The head office is also settled here. We started in 2011 and now work with a team of about 100 employees. Many employees are of course fanatic anglers, but this is not a must for this job.
The ultimate goal for Fishdeal is to become the largest angling webshop in Europe. To achieve this goal and to support our continued growth, we are looking for a experencied Ruby on Rails Developer.
We are working together with an external development agency and because of our rapid growth, we would like to secure some of this knowledge in our own organisation. You’ll work together with the product owner of Fishdeal and some external developers from the development agency.
● Building, testing, reviewing and releasing code.
● Continuing to improve the functionality and user-friendliness of systems.
● Forming your own vision about architecture, processes and tooling.
● Making technical designs for (larger) new features.
● Giving critical feedback on technical proposals and expressing your own opinion.
● Making a real impact on the organisation with your work.
We are looking for engineers who are motivated to learn new things, ship new features and take on new and interesting challenges. Our stack is mainly focused on Ruby! You have experience with designing, implementing and deploying backend services with a focus on high availability, low latency, and consistency.
● You have at least 3 years of working experience and experience with Ruby on (and off) Rails development.
● Knowledge of HTML, CSS, API, GIT, AWS, Elixir.
● You have knowledge of SQL databases.
● You have a good command of English languages.
● You can work independently, but also in a team and you are critical and accurate. You are open and not afraid to make mistakes and to admit it, so that we can learn from each other.
